U.S. Climate Change Technology Program
As part of the President's National Climate Change Technology Initiative (NCCTI), launched on June 11, 2001, the President directed the Secretary of Energy, in coordination with the Secretary of Commerce, to lead a multi-agency review of the Federal R&D portfolio and make recommendations. The Climate Change Technology Program (CCTP) was established to implement the President's NCCTI.

Methane to Markets Partnership
EPA is involved in a variety of international activities to better understand and quantify global methane emissions, assess the costs and benefits of emission reduction options, and to facilitate cost-effective, emission reduction opportunities. In addition, EPA is leading the United States commitment to the new Methane to Markets Partnership.

Climate Leaders
Climate Leaders is a voluntary industry- government partnership that encourages companies to develop long-term comprehensive climate change strategies and set greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reduction goals.

SmartWay Transport Partnership
The SmartWay Transport Partnership is a collaborative voluntary program between EPA and the freight industry that will increase the energy efficiency and energy security of our country while significantly reducing air pollution and greenhouse gases. The Partnership creates strong market-based incentives that challenge companies shipping products, and the truck and rail companies delivering these products, to improve the environmental performance of their freight operations. SmartWay Transport partners improve their energy efficiency, save money, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve air quality

Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC)

Recognizing the problem of potential global climate change, the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) established the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) in 1988. It is open to all members of the
UN and WMO.

The role of the IPCC is to assess on a comprehensive, objective, open and transparent basis the scientific, technical and socio-economic information relevant to understanding the scientific basis of risk of human-induced climate change, its potential impacts and options for adaptation and mitigation. The IPCC does not carry out research nor does it monitor climate related data or other relevant parameters. It bases its assessment mainly on peer reviewed and published scientific/technical literature. Its role, organisation, participation and general procedures are laid down in the "Principles Governing IPCC Work"

Development Gateway: Climate Change One of the primary goals of the Millennium Development plan articulated by the United Nations is climate change "to ensure environmental sustainability as a poverty reduction measure." To that end the Development Gateway website has set up this special set of webpages dedicated to exploring this pressing issue. The site contains material on global efforts to forge international cooperation in governance, donor aid, and policy implementation aimed at reducing the impact of climate change in the developing world.
