About RSS Feeds and Podcasts

Overview

RSS is a standard format (in XML) for delivering content that changes on a regular basis. Content is delivered in small chunks, generally a synopsis, preview, or headline. This requires a web browser plus a suitable RSS reader software.

Podcasting is a way to ’subscribe’ to audio programs and have them delivered to your personal computer. As a subscriber to U.S. Embassy Brussels podcasts you can automatically receive the latest edition of available programs.

These materials are available via syndication software that checks for the most current files of your choosing. The MP3 player is connected to a computer, the computer connects to the internet. The freely available software on the computer finds selected podcasts to download to the MP3 player, so the user can disconnect the MP3 player and listen to the podcasts at any time.

Subscribe to our RSS feeds

To subscribe to a featured RSS feed add the address of the feed to your bookmarks. It is often best to use one bookmark folder to contain all such subscribed feeds. Your RSS reader software can then examine that folder for feed information.

Downloading MP3 audio files

To listen to the most recent programs, users without a portable MP3 player may listen to audio files by right-clicking on the 'download' link and then saving to your personal computer. Once you've downloaded the file you can listen to it at your own convenience.
